“Jokanaan, I am amorous of thy body! Thy body is white like the lilies of a field that the mower has never mowed. Thy body is white like the snows that lie on the mountains, like the snows that lie on the mountains of Judća, and come down into the valleys. The roses in the garden of the Queen of Arabia are not so white as thy body. Neither the roses of the garden of the Queen of Arabia, nor the feet of the dawn when they light on the leaves, not the breast of the moon when she lies on the breast of the sea…There is nothing in the world so white as thy body. Let me touch thy body.”
-Salome addressing Jokanaan in Oscar Wilde's Salome

Welcome to AmazonianFeminism.com!

AmazonianFeminism.com is where individuals can discuss feminist theory and current issues in a range of fields such as literature, film, politics and activism.  The feminist movement emerged as a challenge to the constructs of femininity and gender roles pervasive in our society.  However, feminist theory, in its aim for truth, must also be put to the test.  Feminism is not about anger or man-hating.  Rather, feminist critical thought is a means to discover ourselves and undestand those elements that shape the way we live and think.  If we are aware of our role within  patriarchal power structures, we can identify more efficient ways to articulate and express forms of resistance to those elements which constrain us and stifle our breath.  As the name implies, Amazonian Feminism aims at empowering individuals, both men and women, to pursue self-exploration (physicality, psychology, sexual identity, gender performance) and fight for their rights in a form that is strong, relentless, innovative, but most of all,  condusive to emancipation and the constitutional pursuit of happiness.
